In perfect synchrony with the global observation of World Polio Day 2023 (https://timeline.rotary9212.org/rotary-zone-22-district-9212-hold-awareness-events-during-world-polio-day/ ), Rotary District 9212 released the second episode of its groundbreaking interview series, “TAGLINE – Unveiling Rotary District 9212.” Premiering on the District’s YouTube media platform, the episode shone a light on Rotary’s enduring fight against polio.
Building upon the successful debut of the show with “The Truth About Rotary and Rotary District 9212,” (Watch here: https://youtu.be/lHDsrvI2_Zg ), episode 2 focused on the critical endeavor of creating awareness about the fight to END POLIO. The Rotary Foundation (TRF) Trustee Geeta Manek and Dr. David Githanga, a key figure in District 9212’s Polio Task Force, took center stage in an enlightening conversation hosted by Public Image and Communications Chair Caroline Njiru.
The episode focused on the incredible strides made by Rotary International in combating Polio, the concerted efforts to get rid of it, as well as last-mile challenges faced in achieving its eradication. TRF Trustee Geeta Manek and Dr. David Githanga provided an illuminating overview, delving into the historical perspective, the importance of vaccinations, Rotary’s involvement in the fight against polio, and the imperative role each individual can play in eradicating this disease.
Segments on understanding the polio disease and preventive measures through vaccinations formed the cornerstone of the informative conversation.
Rotary Foundation Trustee Geeta Manek’s stirring reminder resonated deeply, “As members of Rotary and people of action, we must keep our promise to protect the world’s children from this dreadful, preventable disease – polio. We are nearing the finish line, but the last leg of this race is often the toughest. Therefore, let’s unite and contribute to the polio fund to ensure every child receives full immunization and protection.”
