Happy New Year!

You know you’ve had a good holiday when the only thing expanding is your laughter! I trust you had a splendid holiday season filled with laughter, good food, cherished moments and hopefully some rest and much needed rejuvenation. I was blessed to spend my holiday bonding with my family and friends, and marveling at the gift of life and nature.

Are you rested? While we strive to change the lives of others, let’s not forget to care for ourselves. The link between mental well-being and our ability to make a positive impact is profound. As we embark on a new year of service, let’s prioritize our own mental health, taking some time out when necessary to  ensure we are well-equipped to change the world.

Rotary’s Vocational Service Month: The first month of the year -January-  is dedicated to Vocational Service, a core aspect of Rotary’s purpose. Our Object of Rotary, a philosophical statement of our mission, emphasizes fostering high ethical standards in business and professions. This month, let’s dive into discussions and projects that not only develop the ethical consciousness and vocational skills of Rotarians, but also tap into the talents within our communities. Remember, each Rotarian is a connecting link between the idealism of Rotary and their trade or profession.

DCA in Magical Watamu: We’re all set for the much-anticipated District Conference on the sunny shores of Magical Watamu! Have you registered yet? Don’t miss the opportunity to be part of this unforgettable experience. I invite you to an experience that has been curated to be memorable – from the day you arrive in Watamu on the 25th of April where I’ll host you to a unique cocktail event on the first evening – to the last evening of celebration on 28th April.  Register at https://dca2024.rotary9212.org/ and take advantage of exclusive travel offers. Don’t miss out!

The Rotary Foundation: I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for your continued generosity to The Rotary Foundation! Your gifts transform into service projects that change lives globally. In response to several requests,  I’m pleased to extend the Paul Harris Fellow matching payment deadline by 60 days to March 1, 2024. Seize this opportunity to honor your pledge and contribute to changing lives across the glone. Make your payment of $500 via the Jenga Foundation or via My Rotary today to get matched!

Sunshine Rally:  It’s  looking like it will be a productive 2024 for our District as we are also set to spread some sunshine! Mark your calendars for our regional 2024 Sunshine Rallies starting next month at the Coast Region on February 3rd, followed by the Nairobi region on February 17th, and later in the Mt. Kenya and Western Regions in March 2024. The 42nd series of our annual event, sponsored by clubs in Rotary District 9212, brings together thousands of children with disabilities for a joyous day of games and entertainment. Participate by donating your time or resources to this noble cause.

Club Transition Process: As the new year unfolds, it sets the stage for the transition process in our clubs. As we approach the new Rotary year that begins on July 1st, it is crucial that we work together to ensure smooth transitions in our clubs. Stable clubs make strong clubs and strong clubs accomplish more. Your support as a member is crucial for the growth and vibrancy of your club, in order to accomplish a lasting impact in our communities.
