By Hanna Abebe

Rotary Ethiopia has taken a significant step forward in its partnership with UNICEF Ethiopia by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

This agreement marks a new chapter in their collaboration, expanding their focus beyond the successful End Polio campaign to address critical issues such as nutrition, peacebuilding, and more.

The partnership between Rotary Ethiopia and UNICEF Ethiopia has been instrumental in the fight against polio, with Rotary’s commitment to eradicating the disease aligning closely with UNICEF’s mission to protect the rights and well-being of children worldwide. Through their combined efforts, significant progress has been made in reducing the number of polio cases in Ethiopia and beyond.

With the signing of the MoU, Rotary Ethiopia and UNICEF Ethiopia are poised to tackle additional challenges facing the country’s most vulnerable populations. Nutrition is a key focus area, as malnutrition remains a pressing issue that affects millions of children in Ethiopia. By working together, Rotary and UNICEF can implement sustainable solutions to improve access to nutritious food and combat the underlying causes of malnutrition.

In addition to nutrition, the partnership will also prioritize peacebuilding initiatives, recognizing the importance of creating safe and stable environments for children to thrive. By promoting peace and conflict resolution strategies, Rotary and UNICEF aim to create a more peaceful future for Ethiopia’s youth, free from the devastating effects of violence and instability.

This expanded partnership between Rotary Ethiopia and UNICEF Ethiopia underscores the organizations’ shared commitment to improving the lives of children and families in Ethiopia. By leveraging their respective strengths and resources, they can make a greater impact on a wider range of issues, ultimately creating a brighter future for all Ethiopians.

As they embark on this new chapter of collaboration, Rotary Ethiopia and UNICEF Ethiopia are poised to make a lasting difference in the lives of those most in need. Together, they will continue to work towards a world where every child has the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential.
