Rotarians in Ethiopia Celebrate World Humanitarian Day

By Hanna Abebe

Rotary Clubs in Ethiopia have come together to celebrate World Humanitarian Day at the Tesfa Addis Parents Childhood Cancer Organization. The day was filled with love, compassion, and kindness towards our fellow human beings, as Rotarians dedicated their time and efforts to make a difference in the lives of others.

For Rotary clubs in Ethiopia, this celebration held even more significance as it coincided with Buhe, one of Ethiopia’s festivals. During Buhe, bands of small boys visit each house, singing Hoyahoye and jostling until they are given some fresh dough (Buhe) that is being prepared for baking. In the evening, bonfires are lit outside each home, adding to the festive atmosphere.

The Rotary clubs in Ethiopia are incredibly grateful to everyone who participated in this event and spent the day with the children at Tesfa Addis Parents Childhood Cancer Organization. The presence and support of Rotarians and volunteers meant the world to the kids and their families. The Rotary community would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to each and every person who contributed to making this day a success.

The generosity and kindness shown by Rotarians and volunteers have touched the lives of many children and their families. Through their actions, they have not only celebrated World Humanitarian Day but also embraced the spirit of Buhe, spreading joy and happiness to those in need.

Rotarians in Ethiopia look forward to celebrating more meaningful events in the future. The dedication and commitment of Rotarians and volunteers continue to inspire and uplift communities, making a lasting impact on the lives of those they serve.

Together, Rotary clubs in Ethiopia will continue to make a difference, embodying the true spirit of service and compassion. Through their collective efforts, they will create a brighter future for all, one act of kindness at a time.
