We Are One! Rotary District 9212 Unveils 2023-2024 Theme
Rotary District 9212 comprising of 138 clubs in Kenya, Ethiopia, South Sudan and Eritrea, recently launched its 2023/2024 annual theme; We Are One!
“It is my pleasure to announce the District theme, which reflects our belief in the power of togetherness and the strength of our collective efforts. The rallying call that together, we can achieve great things and make a lasting impact in our communities,’’ District Governor Elect Leonard Ithau said in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.
Each of the countries has unique strengths and identities that enrich Rotary District 9212’s work. For instance, Kenya is known for its rich wildlife, while Ethiopia is famous for its coffee. South Sudan has been working hard to build peace and stability after years of conflict, and Eritrea is known for its resilience in the face of adversity.
“But what brings us all together is the Rotary mission: to unite people and take action to create lasting change in our communities and ourselves,’’ Ithau said.
Ithau, a member of the Rotary Club of Karen made his debut to District leadership during the 2019/2020 Rotary Year when he served as the Chair of the Executive committee under Past District Governor (PDG) Joe Otin. The year’s theme was Elevate The Game.
The District themes since then have been Be Unlimited in the 2020-21 Rotary year under PDG Patrick Obath, One Love in 2021-22 under PDG Alex Nyaga and Let’s March Together under immediate PDG Azeb Asrat.
“As I step into my role as District Governor, I am humbled by the legacy of leadership that has come before me,’’ Ithau said. “I am grateful for the contributions of all district officials, and I am committed to building on their success as we move forward.’’
In the Rotary year 2023-2024, District 9212 identified four transformative pillars to achieve its vision of making a positive impact in our communities and the world.
- EXPANDING OUR REACH by Strengthening Our Clubs.
- ENHANCE PARTICIPANT ENGAGEMENT by Increasing Inter-Club Coherence by working with each other more.
- INCREASE OUR IMPACT by Implementing Larger More Impactful Projects. This will include prioritizing projects that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- IMPROVE OUR FUNDRAISING through Increased and Every Member Support to The Rotary Foundation.
To support these pillars, Rotary District 9212 identified four foundational enablers it will provide to leaders of Rotary clubs to increase the success of their projects.
- Deepen and Structure Our Partnerships, by ensuring that we have the necessary resources to carry out our mission and achieve our goals.
- Provide World-Class Training with onsite support to facilitate the resources that you require to flourish.
- Increasing Use of Technology and Automation in our operations to make communication easier and tasks such as applications and reporting simpler.
- Focus on Skillful and Intentional Communications.
