The Rotaract Club of Athi River set out to spread the ONE LOVE vibe through Blackboard Painting Projects which brought together Rotary, Rotaract and the community in painting blackboards for primary schools in Athi River. The project, now completed in two schools has seen 50 boards painted; It provides a platform of creating awareness of Rotary and Rotaract in the community which has made friends and alliances for the Rotaract Club of Athi River.

The project directly involves Rotarians, Rotaractors, students, teachers and the school stakeholders in actual painting of Black boards. Through this the parties share on how solutions can be sought on common problems faced among them.  So far it has been noted that there was need for the Blackboard painting project to enhance the view of the Blackboard for students. Other issues noted were need for talks aimed at students in topics such as drugs, menstrual hygiene, environment and career.

The new Rotary Year provides a chance to go further with the project to many schools and further to the community as the Rotaractors seek to serve to change lives and spread the ONE LOVE vibe. Special thanks to the Rotary club of Kitengela which is our wonderful mother club, to good and aggressive friends; Rotary Club of Athi River and Rotaract Club of Kitengela.

COVID19 still poses a challenge for the project due to gathering but the Club board ensures proper use of the guidelines provided. How better can we serve and still overcome the pandemic than uniting in ONE LOVE?
