Rotary District 9212 will be celebrating its centenary during the year beginning July 1. And so in the stunning backdrop of Mount Kenya, Rotary leaders from the region recently converged for an extraordinary event that left them in awe.
As District Governor Elect Dr. Joe Kamau began dispatching his wisdom on expanding reach and fostering unity, a playful gust of wind decided to add its own twist. Speech notes went airborne, creating an impromptu confetti shower, reminding everyone that even in the face of unexpected challenges, Rotary always finds a reason to laugh.
The Magic of Fellowship, Family and Fun
At Camp Dunda, hosted by the Rotary Club of Embu, the essence of Rotary’s magic was palpable. The attendees quickly embraced the theme for the 2024-2025: “The Magic of Rotary.” Laughter and joy flowed as the Rotarians immersed themselves in camaraderie, underscored by the pillars of fellowship, family and fun. The enchanting beauty of Mount Kenya beckoned and Rotarians eagerly embarked on a captivating nature trail. With breathtaking views as their backdrop, they reveled in the magic of the region. But the adventure didn’t stop there, we had an exhilarating canopy walk with the brave taking the wild swing. Laughter and screams of pleasure echoed through the forest, reminding everyone that Rotary wasn’t just about service—it was about embracing life’s adventures and finding joy in unexpected moments.
Macarena Fever Takes Over: Dancing into Rotary’s Centennial Celebration.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the energy soared to new heights. The Rotarians came together for an electrifying Macarena dance session that had – even the most reserved – attendees grooving to the beat. Led by an enthusiastic instructor, they unleashed their inner dancers, shaking off any inhibitions and embracing the magic of the moment. Laughter filled the air as the District Governor Elect, other District officials and Presidents-Elect moved in unison, celebrating Rotary’s upcoming centenary with every spirited step.

As the team building and get-together event drew to a close, the Rotarians departed with an indomitable spirit and cherished memories. They carried with them the realization that they are now “Centurion’’ Presidents, entrusted with leading their clubs during Rotary District 9212’s 100th year. The pride and dedication radiated from each of them, knowing that they were part of a legacy that had stood the test of time.
