Rotarians in South Sudan Advocate For Mental Health
In a series of proactive engagements and community-driven initiatives, Rotary Clubs in South Sudan rallied in observance of World Mental Health Day. The event, celebrated on the 10th of October, witnessed an inspiring display of dedication from Rotarians across the region. The Rotary Club of Juba, in collaboration with various government ministries, civil society organizations, and non-governmental representatives, took active part in commemorating this significant day.
This year’s overarching theme, “Mental Health is a Universal Right,” resonated deeply with the Rotarians. They leveraged this occasion to advocate for mental health as a fundamental right for all. Through spirited debates, impactful dramatizations, and insightful discussions, members of the Rotary Club of Juba passionately highlighted the importance of mental well-being as an essential and universal human right.
Moreover, the spirit of Rotary fellowship was celebrated during talk shows and gatherings, exemplified by the Rotary Club of Juba’s involvement in a poignant talk show aired on Radio Miraya FM, bringing attention to the significance of World Mental Health Day.
Mental Health Initiatives by South Sudan Rotary Clubs
The Rotary Clubs of South Sudan have been at the forefront of various community-driven initiatives. The Rotary Club of Juba Airport, alongside partner organizations, orchestrated a highly successful blood drive on the 5th of August at Al Saba Children’s Hospital in Juba.
Operating under the theme “donate blood, save lives,” the event received tremendous support from members of diverse Rotary Clubs, including the Rotary Club of Juba, Rotary Club of Wau, Rotary Club of Munuki, and Rotary Club of Juba Central. This joint effort made a significant impact, highlighting the collaborative spirit aimed at serving a noble cause.
In a further endeavor showcasing their commitment to community welfare, the Rotary Club of Wau organized a clothes drive on the 22nd of August to support teenage street children in Wau Town. This initiative, reflecting the ethos of the Rotary Clubs, aimed at fostering positive change and addressing the needs of vulnerable segments within society.
