NEW Beginnings

Fellow Rotarians, friends and family,

Someone once said that today is the beginning of the rest of your life. And while that is true, about all individuals, in Rotary, the first day of July ushers in a new season. It gives us a new reason and season to be of service to humanity in our own unique but concerted ways.

This is a good time to remind us of Rotary’s vision statement, “Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change — across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.”

This year is unique due to the Corona pandemic. For starters, nearly all fellowships are online. Physical interactions are few and far between. The economic situation across our geographies has been impacted by the effects of Covid 19. But in the midst of all these, with the right attitude and plans, there are many silver linings that we can exploit to make this a great Rotary year.

In this edition, the District Governor Rtn. Patrick Obath, a Rotarian of many years, shares his plans and vision for Rotary in District 9212 in 2020/ 2021. His aspiration will come to life through our actions as individuals, committees and clubs. I encourage each of you to grow through his articles and find ways in which we can integrate his objectives in our executions.

On our part, we intend to continue keeping you informed through the Timeline and other District communication assets. I encourage you to share articles and images from your club with us on a regular basis. Also, remember to keep your club’s social media assets and websites updated, so that we can keep the Rotary light shining.

The new Rotary year is at hand. Approach it boldly and diligently. Let us make this a remarkable year. In the words of Martin Luther King Jr, “Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”
