Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.

How many times do you experience youthfulness and teenage enthusiasm? Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Kikuyu experienced this after visiting two schools in Kabete sub-county. The mission was twofold; creating the first baby steps for the charter journey of two Interact clubs and championing girl empowerment through the donation of 400 sanitary towels.

First stop was Ngure Primary School where we interacted and mentored more than 80 students. This is a school of great interest to our club. We have worked collaboratively with the school to develop a shared vision with great impact grounded in serving students and the school community through providing:

-Modern kitchen block

-School library

– Student’s mentorship.

Our second stop was at Rungiri High School where we connected with more than 200 passionate students in community service. The joy of working with young people is that it is always different. Each young person is unique, they bring their own life experience, needs, and expectations. They bring their belief that anything is possible, there are no limits to what can be achieved.

During this Basic Education and Literacy month, we are focused on our goal to increase and expand our impact by chartering both Interact and Rotaract clubs. These two are the future of Rotary. Together we serve, we learn, and change lives.
