Kenyan Coast Rotary Clubs Hold Joint Installation, Rotarians at Work Day

Eight Rotary Clubs in District 9212 held a joint Presidents installation, Rotary Friendship Exchange and participated in service projects at Gede Primary School, Watamu with the objective to improve the quality of education and create a conducive learning environment for the students.


Activities during the Rotarian at Work Day included donating books and educational materials to establish a well-equipped library, conducting interactive library lead-aloud sessions to promote reading habits and provide educational support to the students, refurbishing and painting blackboards in 20 classrooms to create an engaging and inspiring learning environment. The Rotarians also had mentorship sessions with the pupils to provide guidance, support, and inspiration for their academic and personal development.

To address the issue of environmental degradation and raise awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean and sustainable beach ecosystem at the community site, the Joint Coast Rotary Installation service project participated in a beach cleaning event at Garoda Beach line to remove litter and promote cleanliness.


The Rotarians also engaged the local community in the beach cleaning initiative to raise awareness about the importance of environmental conservation. The community involvement is expected to foster a sense of responsibility and ownership among so that the local residents maintain the cleanliness of the beach in the long-term.
