Happy New Month Rotary Family!

Welcome to March, the month where Rotary focuses on the focus area of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH). Did you know that this focus area constitutes more than half of all projects in our district? It is quite the testament to our commitment to creating sustainable solutions for communities in need.

Plus, with the recently signed Memorandum of Association (MoU) signed with partners like Davis & Shirtliffe ( https://timeline.rotary9212.org/rotary-davis-shirtliff-begin-partnership-on-water-sanitation/), our Rotary clubs can benefit from cost-sharing opportunities, further maximizing our impact.

“When people have access to clean water and sanitation, waterborne diseases decrease, children stay healthier and attend school more regularly, and mothers can spend less time carrying water and more time helping their families.”

But that’s not all—March also marks World Rotaract Week, happening from 11th to 17th March 2024. It’s a time to celebrate the incredible work of Rotaractors in our District and their dedication to service and community development. The week also commemorates the founding of the first Rotaract club in 1968. I urge Rotary Clubs in our District to support Rotaract clubs and continue to work side by side to take action through service.

Speaking of celebrations, let’s take a moment to applaud the success of the recent Sunshine Rallies in Mombasa and the Coast regions of Kenya that were held last month. Our District hosted 7,010 children with disabilities from 138 schools at the Ulinzi Stadium in Nairobi and 2,000 in Mombasa during the Coast Rally. The energy and enthusiasm were contagious! Now, get ready as we bring the excitement to Mt. Kenya and Western Kenya this month. Mark your calendars for the upcoming rallies at Kibabii University in Bungoma on 16th March and Embu University in Embu County on 23rd March.

Looking ahead, anticipation builds for our 99th District Conference in Magical Watamu next month. From engaging activities to thrilling excursions and prestigious awards for clubs, there’s much to look forward to. Have you registered yet? Don’t miss out on this memorable experience!

Let’s not forget our ongoing commitment to The Rotary Foundation. Your contributions play a vital role in advancing our humanitarian efforts worldwide. Whether through the Jenga Foundation Mpesa portal or My Rotary, your support makes a difference. Donate today!
