Holding Hands Of The Next Generation of Girls Through Career Guidance and MENTORSHIP
Members of the Rotary Club of Kwale have resumed their Career Talks Programme for secondary schools in the county. The programme that the club launched in 2017 has proved popular with students.
The first round of Career Talks in the new Rotary Year started in August 2019 with Burani Girls High School in Mwaluphamba Location, Matuga Sub County. Rotarians present talked on a wide range of career opportunities.
Millicent Kigira presented on Law, Celine Lusweti on Education and the teaching profession, Dipak Varia on Building and Construction, while Kauli Mwembe presented on Journalism and Broadcasting. A friend of the club, Mr Yusuf Sengeza presented on Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The girls were excited and expressed their wish to have the talks every term. The Rotarians expressed their willingness to have the talks regularly if their tight schedules and time allowed. The girls suggested topics on Medicine, Hospitality Industry, Nursing, Armed Forces and Engineering, among other topics for the next talks.
The club has in the past conducted similar career talks at Kwale Girls High School and St Mary’s Seminary Kwale. More schools will be identified and lined up for the Career Talks Programme.
