73% Growth in 65 days! Rotary Club Of Nairobi Gigiri Exceeds 2019-20 Membership Growth TARGET
Rotary Club of Nairobi Gigiri has done exceptionally well within the first 65 days and plans to continue growing. District Governor Otin challenged clubs in the district to increase their membership by 50% in the year 2019-20 and the club is leading in membership growth.
”Last month,was membership month and the committee took the challenge seriously. I inherited a club with only 11 members, and now we stand at 18 members 65 days later…” said President Esther Gachagua – Muchiri
The president reported the club started the Rotary year hands on with projections of their ongoing projects. Firstly, by supporting Nairobi Children Remand Home nutritionally by planting and maintaining an orchid, kitchen garden and herb center to keep away mosquitoes. Secondly, collecting books to equip Mary Mother of Grace boys school Rumuruti library. Thirdly, East Pokot partnership with Rotary Club of Port Orchard – USA in dams constructions; a project halfway and lastly, a GG application towards expansion of Mother and Child Unit at the Uzima Hospital, Nairobi
The President continued by thanking the Service Projects, Public relations and Club admin teams for having two members attend the foundation training, actively promoting the club on social media in organizing socials to highlight the club and bring Cohesion, in conjunction with Family Rotary team and updating club records respectively.
The induction ceremony was special as it coincided with the District Governor visit accompanied by AG Margret. District Governor Otin in a captivating way took the club through the year plans. One of the goals was a campaign to raise $1M from a 1M heroes by each giving $1 each. ”Once this goal is reached the Rotary Foundation will match the funds with another $1M, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will triple this amount by giving $4M. This is a total of $6M which will go towards the eradication of polio” Otin said.
The evening was graced by family and friends of Rotary who included Senator. Isaac Mwaura a self-confessed RINO, members of Rotary clubs of Gachie, Kiambu, Kikuyu, Rotaract clubs of University of Nairobi, St. Pauls University and Limuru among many.
AG Margret inspired members and guests with her inspiring CV “from the village to the Tribe Hotel‘ while Esther Konkara entertained them with a beautiful song playing the guitar.
