The Power Of A Clean-up By Rotary Club Of KISERIAN
“A vital component to humanity’s well-being, we increasingly need to recognize the environment’s elemental role in creating truly sustainable and lasting change,” Barry Rassin, President of Rotary International, 2018-2019
World Environment Day takes place every year on 5 June. It is the United Nations’ flagship day for promoting worldwide awareness and action for the environment. Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest global platforms for public outreach and is celebrated by millions of people in more than 100 countries.
The power of a clean-up initiative is enormous. Clean-ups bring people together, create a common goal, and provide visible, immediate results. Clean-ups are also powerful tools to raise awareness. “The opportunity to collaborate with UN Environment — the United Nations agency that serves as the global authority on the environment — is well-timed for those who want to make a difference at the local level. Our collective efforts will result in greater global impact.” Mark Maloney, President of Rotary International, 2019-2020

A local clergy man further disclosed his perception on rotary; that it was a club only for the affluent in the society. After interacting with the Rotarians from RC Kiserian, he understood the concept of rotary and even expressed interest to join!
Besides cleaning the town, about 50 trees were planted and RC Kiserian members were given each a seedling to plant in their homes. The Club is now targeting to plant more trees on a 25-acre piece of land in Ngong Hills, donated to the club, with 7 acres already covered with threes
