Bodaboda riders in Ngong to get much needed shelter
The ground breaking of the Rotary Club of Ngong Hills Bodaboda Shed was held on Tuesday 30th July 2019 after long planning, frequent visits to government offices and getting all the legal requirements.
The joy in all the Bodaboda operators was visible in their faces. By 8.30 am all the Rotarians had arrived awaiting the guest of honour the Ngong Town Ward MCA Robert Mworia aka Sungura.
The Bodaboda Project has been an initiative of RC Ngong Hills,in collaboration with AA Kenya, MCA Office and county government to bring the much needed order in the Bodaboda transport sector.
The MCA arrived accompanied by his entourage plus the Municipal officials. To meet them was the Ngong Hills Rotarians and Rotaractors led by President Martin Miriti. President Martin talked about the dream of Ngong Bodaboda being the benchmark similar to that of Bodabodas in Rwanda and Uganda. The Bodaboda Chairman Gitau was so grateful of the RC Ngong Hills initiative. The scorching sun, the harsh weather, the intermittent showers would now be a thing of the past.
The MCA commended the various initiatives of Rotary Club of Ngong Hills, which had included the Eyes and Dental Medical Camp, the tree planting in various schools and other initiatives. He then led all present in the much awaited ground breaking. Truly the Rotary projects were touching the hearts of its beneficiaries.
