Taking Stock of the First Half
Happy New Month Rotarians and Rotaractors.
It almost seems like we blinked and the first half of the Rotary year 2020-2021 has gone by. We are now in December, which is normally a short month with one or two fellowships and end year activities planned by several clubs before taking a break. As we plan to wind down together let us take stock of the progress thus far from July to December.
There has been a lot of growth in our District with several Rotary, Rotaract and Interact clubs chartered. There has also been tremendous growth of membership within our clubs, which means there are more hands to make a lasting change in the communities we serve.
During the first half of the Rotary year, we have all learnt to embrace technology, with online fellowships being the primary means of interaction. This has brought us even closer as family of Rotary. Clubs are joining hands to have joint online fellowships and other events, which have enhanced the Rotary experience and ensured continuous member engagement, which is very key.
We are also celebrating one of our very own, Rotary Club of Nairobi, as they celebrate 90 years. This is a great milestone and we are all proud of the great achievements by the oldest club in our district.
The Interact family was not left behind with regard to hosting online events. They had a cultural exchange with clubs from India, which was a great travel experience from the comfort of their homes.
Rotarians and Rotaractors have continued to impact the community through transformational projects. This for sure has been one of the years that Rotary in our District have been highlighted in the media for the great interventions, even during the coronavirus pandemic.
These are just some of the achievements we have all made and looking forward to achieve more as the second half of the year starts. I invite us all to take time to read though all the stories the team has prepared this new month. We also welcome more submissions of articles so we can showcase our impact not only to the Rotary family but to the public.
I also take this early opportunity to wish all of us a Merry Christmas and look forward to another great year ahead!
