Rotary District 9212 To Host Second Interdistrict Leadership Summit, Friendship Exchange

Rotary District 9212 is hosting the second leadership forum for Rotary Districts that covers Districts 9212, 9213 and 9214. Immediate Past District Governor of Rotary District 9212 Leonard Ithau is the Chair of the 2nd Rotary Inter-District Leaders Summit.

The event scheduled for March 21–23, 2025 will be held in Nairobi, after an amazing experience in Kampala last year. The summit is planned to be three exciting days of collaboration, learning and fellowship. Attendees will include the three Districts’ Executive Committee members, other district officers and Past District Governors from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, South Sudan and Eritrea.

Day one, Friday March 21 will begin with a welcome cocktail and dinner hosted by local Rotary clubs. The second day, Saturday March 22 will entail expert-led discussions, strategic planning sessions, and best practice sharing, followed by an evening dinner. The third day, Sunday March 23 will involve project visit showcasing Rotary’s community impact, followed by departures.

Club and Cultural Experience
The Rotary Club of Langata will host delegates for fellowship on March 20. The following day, the Rotary Clubs of Syokimau, Kitengela, Athi River, Stoni Athi, Embakasi and Nairobi Magharibi, will jointly host a networking cocktail at the 67Airport Hotel to set the tone for the summit.

There shall be a House of Friendship at the Emara Ole Sereni Hotel. Rotarians are encouraged to showcase their work, businesses, and projects in an interactive exhibition space throughout the summit.

Delegates can explore various spots within Nairobi or unwind at the Rooftop of Emara Ole Sereni Hotel, enjoying great music and dancing by the park under the Nairobi skyline on March 22. A morning safari at the Nairobi National Park will offer an opportunity to see wildlife and experience Kenya’s natural beauty. After the game drive, there will be a relaxed picnic in the wild and fireside discussions to foster deeper connections among participants.

The Summit
The theme of the submit is Harnessing collective action to create positive lasting change. Key pillars include:

Service Projects – Delivering Positive Lasting Change: Bigger, Better, Faster
The Rotary – Rotaract Equal Partnership: Making it Real
Membership – The Heart and Soul of Rotary: Why then, are we NOT Growing?
The Year-on-Year Rotary Dilemma: Making What We Do Last our Year

The summit shall address critical topics shaping Rotary’s future, including membership growth and diversity, strategies for strengthening and expanding Rotary’s impact, giving to the Rotary foundation giving and grants, maximizing support for community projects through global and district grants.

Other topics include governance and administrative structures, strengthening policy frameworks for efficient leadership, Rotaract engagement and enhancing collaboration between Rotarians and Rotaractors to build a sustainable future, interdistrict projects and collaboration and exploring opportunities for large-scale, cross-district initiatives.

Attendees will gain insights from experienced Rotary leaders, engage in meaningful discussions that shape the future of Rotary in our regions, strengthen interdistrict relationships and collaborative opportunities, celebrate 100 years of Rotary in Africa and reflect on our collective impact.

This year’s summit provides a unique platform for exchanging best practices, enhancing leadership skills, and strategizing for greater impact in Rotary service. The summit comes at a crucial time as we prepare for the transition into Districts 9215 and 9216. It also coincides with the 100-year celebration of Rotary in Africa, aligning with the global theme, “The Magic of Rotary.”
