Date of Death: October 1, 2023

A Rotary Journey that Began with Purpose

Sidy’s remarkable Rotary journey commenced in 2014 at Lifespring Chapel Syokimau. As part of a 10-week Bible study class, the group’s shared vision led to the birth of two ideas: an investment club and a Rotary club. While the investment club eventually waned, the Rotary Club of Syokimau emerged with enthusiasm, holding fellowships at the 67 Airport Hotel in June 2014 and achieving charter status on November 14, 2014.

Sidy played a pivotal role as the charter Secretary of the Rotary Club of Syokimau, alongside fellow members Felistas Musyoki, who conceived the idea and served as charter President, and Eric Ombok, who led the Bible study group and served as charter treasurer. Her dedication and passion for Rotary shone brightly from the club’s earliest days.

The Rotary Encyclopaedia and Beyond

Sidy’s profound knowledge of Rotary, impeccable understanding of procedural matters, and adherence to Rotary protocol earned her the affectionate nickname among her fellow Rotarians as “The Rotary Encyclopaedia.” She was not only a dedicated leader but also a source of guidance and wisdom for those around her. Her influence extended far beyond her club, and when Rotarians introduced themselves as being from Sidy’s club, they were met with recognition and respect throughout District 9212.

A Selfless Administrator of Rotary Kenya Country Office

In June 2019, Sidy brought her unwavering commitment to Rotary to the administrative role of the Rotary Kenya Country Office. Over the years, she selflessly assisted in organizing and executing District Conferences, Rotary Sunshine Rally events, End Polio initiatives, and most recently, the Imagine Rotary Art Exhibition. Sidy’s infectious smile and dedication were instrumental in resolving various challenges and ensuring the success of these events, leaving a lasting impact on District 9212.
