Keeping our Membership Growing
Many things change in Rotary every year. For instance, every July new leaders come into office right from the Rotary International President to the club level where new leaders take the baton, to head the various topics.
However, one statistic that barely changes is the number of Rotarians in the world. Despite many efforts and interventions, the number has remained at an odd 1.2 million over they years, effectively meaning that the attrition and growth in this global family remains the same.
In our region, we have however been growing at a much better rate. In the recent past, we have been in the Top 10 best performing Districts in growth numbers and we have some of the biggest clubs in Africa. This is no mean feat and we give due credit to each of you for contributing to this growth. But beyond growth, how do we keep Rotarians engaged during this period and beyond?
This being the Membership and New Club Development month in the Rotary Calendar, we dedicate the Timeline to some stories and first-hand accounts of some of those who have contributed to the membership and club growth in our District. They share their strategies and motivations, and it is our hope that they will not only challenge you but also motivate you in the Each One, Reach One journey.
These stories come as a precursor to the District Training activities that kick off this month, with a two-part series on Membership and a session by the Public Image & Innovation. Looks like it will be a packed month, but certainly one that is rewarding and productive for you, your club and our District.
Have a rewarding month.
Yours in Rotary,
Henry Ndirangu
