Grow Our Membership, Increase Our Impact
By District Membership Chair, Maina Gichohi
August is Membership and New Club Development month. Here are some tips to Grow Your Club’s Membership and Grow Our Impact:
- Reflect on Your Membership experience
Membership attraction and experience is central to Rotary’s existence and membership month is a good time to reflect this. Our District currently has 134 Rotary clubs with 3.400 members and 2,736 Rotaractors in Kenya, Ethiopia, Eritrea and South Sudan. It is our goal to grow these numbers during this Rotary year.
- Align to the District 9212 Membership goals for the year
Clubs should align their year membership goals with the district membership goals. To be able to do more through service, Rotary needs to increase membership. We are therefore challenging our clubs to be catalysts to help increase membership. The District goals this year:
- We have a very ambitious goal of growing net of 2,300 Rotarians
- Grow membership by 50% through the Each One Bring One (EOBO) Campaign
- Reduce clubs with under 25 membership by 70% growth
- Charter 10 new Rotary clubs
- Each One, Bring One
Allow every member to participate in growth by bringing in one member. Rotary International President Shekhar Mehta has urged members to become more involved in service projects, saying that caring for and serving others is the best way to live because it changes not only other people’s lives, but also our own.
- Get Involved
Members must ensure they participate in club projects / club socials and ensure they use their vocations to serve and enhance membership experience.
- Innovate
Rotary clubs must continue to be innovative to ensure top class membership experience to suit the newer and younger member dynamics and demands. Tailor make the membership experience by embracing new club formats like corporate clubs, e-clubs and interest based clubs for the convenience of members.
