Goals are top agenda of district executive team
The District Executive Committee of 9212 was set up by District Governor Joe Otin in 2018 and consists of seasoned Rotarians with a track record of service to Rotary and the community at large. It has representation from various clubs and is comprised of the principle district officers, the committee chairmen that drive Rotary International’s strategic priorities, and the country chairmen.
It was set up to offer transparency and accountability from the district leadership and, as a joint force, to establish and maintain a single-mindedness of purpose in delivering the strategic aims of the district in support of Rotary International’s goals. It also provides a model by which Rotary Clubs can emulate in planning and management of their affairs around governance, compliance, and monitoring and evaluation.
The District Executive Committee, informally known as the Exco, is led by the chairman Leonard Ithau, an experienced engineer and executive, knowledgeable in the foundation and management of corporate boards. He brings relevant experience and expertise to the role and conducts the activities of the committee with an air of professionalism.
Their mandate covers the area of financial oversight, measurement of the plans set out in the district goals that are focused on The Rotary Foundation grants and giving; membership growth and development; public image initiatives to increase visibility and gain partners; the innovations in our information and communication systems; and the general administration of club and district affairs.
To meet the requirements of long term succession planning, the District Governor-Elect and the District Governor-Nominee are members of the Exco providing our future leaders with a comprehensive view of the district inventory and the opportunity to input into the ideas and activities of the district which they will lead in the subsequent years.
Rotarians throughout the district are called upon to support the Exco and reach out to them for guidance and interpretation of Rotary’s code of policies and the district bylaws. Reach out to the Exco by writing to secretary@rotary9212.org.
