Dear Rotary family,

How are you…Really?

As we step into the vibrant month of November, we are reminded to take good care of our mental health and check in on those close to us. November also brings with it a special significance as we focus on the cornerstone of our Rotary values: The Rotary Foundation. Through the Foundation, we are able to create bigger and more impactful projects in our communities and there’s no better time to Jenga (Build The) Foundation!

1. November is Rotary Foundation Month: The Rotary Foundation stands as a beacon of hope, fostering goodwill, understanding, and peace by making significant strides in improving health, providing quality education, enhancing the environment, and alleviating poverty. The impact of a single donation cannot be understated!

  • A mere 60 cents can protect a child from the debilitating effects of polio.
  • A donation of $50 can provide clean water to help combat waterborne illnesses.

To this end, I am thrilled to announce our upcoming Foundation Recognition Dinner in Nairobi, Kenya where we will honor and recognize the generous contributions made to the Rotary Foundation by members of our District.

In line with this, I am happy to announce an extension of the Paul Harris Fellow (PHF|) Challenge until November 15, 2023! Take advantage of this offer and make your payment of $500 or Kshs. 70,000 via the Jenga Foundation today to get matched!

2. Re-Districting Board Announcement: I am also delighted to announce the establishment of the Rotary District 9212 Re-Districting Board. The growth of our district demands that we evaluate if our current arrangements are aligned with our purpose and capable of meeting our evolving needs. The board will assess the efficiency of our current district structure and boundaries in accordance with Rotary International policies Read more about this here: https://timeline.rotary9212.org/rotary-district-9212-begins-re-districting-process/:

3. DCA: Magical Watamu District Conference: Don’t miss out on registering for the upcoming Magical Watamu District Conference to be held in Watamu, Kenya from the 25th to the 28th of April 2024. Visit https://dca2024.rotary9212.org/ to register. Additionally, there are newly released travel offers and exclusive discounts via Air, Road, and Rail. Take advantage of these opportunities!

4. Invitation to Half-Year Golf Tournament & Christmas Dinner: I extend a warm invitation to a day of camaraderie and celebration of our half-year achievements. Join us for a round of golf followed by a delightful dinner on December 8. Stay tuned for further details on this joyous event.

5. Mental Wellness – Let’s Care for Each Other: As the year progresses, it’s important to check in on ourselves and our fellow Rotarians. Let’s remember to take care of our mental health, as it is an essential part of our overall well-being. Recently Rotary commemorated Word Mental Heath Day through a live discussion on prioritizing mental health, watch it here to get started: https://youtu.be/KANcNwc7gvs?si=TD5tpdh3loaNaFj0.
