#9212handwashday : Rotary Kenya receives Ksh 1M worth of soap from Unilever Kenya ahead of Global Handwashing Day
Rotary District 9212 yesterday received 36,000 bars of Lifebouy soap worth Kshs 1million from Unilever East Africa ahead of next week’s Global Handwash Day. The soap was received by District 9212 officials led by 9212 Country Chair PP Kuria Waithaka, Projects Chair Dr. Janet Macharia, Programs Chair PP Janet Mathenge, WASH Country Chair Dr. AG Patrisio Njeru as well as WASH project champions from various Rotary clubs. The soap will be distributed to schools around the country on Global Handwash Day (15 October 2021) through Rotary clubs.
As she made the donation, Unilever Kenya Brand manager Cindy Munyiri lauded Rotary for a good job in executing Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) service projects in the community. She credited Rotary’s presence and wide reach as integral in ensuring that impact is made around the country in a timely manner.
In agreement was CC Waithaka who emphasized the importance of partnerships like this one among like-minded organizations that seek to serve humanity and increase impact. He conveyed his gratitude to Unilever for the kind donation that will boost Rotary’s efforts to fight disease.
WASH Kenya Country Chair Njeru, called upon all Rotary clubs in the district to follow up on their plans to commemorate Global Handwash Day in local schools and communities by training students on proper handwashing techniques, donating soap and handwash stations.
