60 Years and Ksh 800M of Community Service – Rotary Club of Nairobi South Set For Celebratory Fundraiser
Since its inception 60 years ago, the Rotary Club of Nairobi South has been synonymous with all that is good and decent in humanity, and promoting the values of Rotary. The club has contributed immensely to the development, transformation, and empowerment of diverse communities across the country.
Our projects have revolved around providing artificial limbs and wheelchairs to amputees through the Jaipur Project; provision of clean water in arid and semi-arid communities; equipping vocational training centres and schools; sponsoring needy children to pursue a high school education; supporting needy girls with sanitary towels so that their education is not interrupted; funding Loresho eye Hospital, and supporting physically challenged people in a variety ways.
This has also included honouring the legacy of our late club member Rtn. Doshi who initiated annual Christmas parties for special needs children and youth, assisted by the Young Jains. To date, in partnership with the Rotary Foundation, our club has provided over a whopping Kshs. 800 million in funding for our projects.
Our flagship Jaipur Foot project has helped many amputees in the East African Region, and we are strengthening our partnerships to source modern 3D Prosthetics that will complement our existing programme. We continue to support Kivaa School for the Deaf and Dumb in Kitui County. With our help, the school has more than tripled enrolment. The club also intends to scale up our mother and child feeding project that is anchored in vertical kitchen gardens, to boost the family nutrition
To increase the club’s effectiveness, we have also embarked on recruitment drive for new members from diverse backgrounds and professions who will be part of our dedicated group and lay the foundation for the Club’s service for at least another sixty years. Come and join us!
