ROTARY CLUB OF NGONG HILLS INSTALLATION CEREMONY

Only one word could be reserved for the day…. Colourful. The choice of venue of installation … Dari Restaurant. Date July 13th 2019… Time… 2.00pm .The Rotary Club of Ngong Hills were ushering their 8th President Rotarian Martin Miriti. This time round it was a Rotary and Rotaract affair. The Rotaractors were also ushering their new President Rotaractor Jejo Mapacha.

By 1.30pm guests and Rotarians had arrived for the ceremony. Rotarian Daudi arrived with his 3 generations accompanying him; amongst them, the Immediate Past President of RC Embu. Rotary all the way it was. Call it promptness, exactly at 2.00pm the day’s MC, Past Club President Njung’e led the gathering into singing the National Anthem and reciting the 4 Way Test. Dari Restaurant had prepared a sumptuous meal for the Rotarians and guests present.

After the hearty lunch, it was time to get into the important moments for the day. Interestingly the two outgoing Presidents were ladies. They had fought the good fight, ran a good race and kept the Rotary Spirit and light burning. Rotarian Irene was one unbwogable President. She had led the club into many projects and uncharted territories. In her tenure the club had conducted its maiden medical camp, partnering with doctors all the way from USA. The Outgoing Rotaract President Lina gave her many achievements amongst them launching INTARCONNECT- a mentorship connection of Rotarians, Rotaractors, and Interactors. The first one of its kind in Africa.

The day Guest of Honour Dr. Sally Gitoho and Club AG Gilda Odera invited Rotarian Martin and Rotaractor Mapacha for the solemn moments of installation. After taking their oath of office the two newest presidents were met with dancing and ululations. It was time to go and elevate the game as well as connect the world. Rotaractor Mapacha hit the ground running leading the crowd in a session of dancing.

Guest of Honour Dr. Sally Speech capped it all with the analogy/ Parable of the Parts of a Tree…

Roots- The presidents were called upon to develop, empathise and listen to their members.

Immediate Past President of Rongai Rotarian Kisali excited the house with his just unique way of auction. Finally it was the time to call the wonderful occasion over. The newest Rotary President in town Rotarian Martin struck the bell and gave the final toast as swallowship continued.
