Honouring The Late Engineer Austin Menya – Past President Rotary Club of Nairobi UTUMISHI

In August 2019, Nairobi Utimishi Rotary Club participated in a Medical Camp that was held at the Tausa Health Centre, Voi. This was in the hometown of one of Nairobi Utumishi’s fallen giants, Past President Engineer Austin Menya who passed away in April 2019. Rotarian Austin was the President of Nairobi Utumishi in 2002-2003. He was also one of the most active members of the Club and spear headed several service projects including some carried out in Taita-Taveta.

In Austin’s honour, members of Nairobi Utumishi planted 20 trees, fitted a prosthetic arm and donated among other items 5 wheel chairs, 50 mosquito nets and 1500 deworming tablets. Approximately 550 people benefited from the medical camp which was held in collaboration with RCs Voi, Nairobi North, Gachie and Rotaract Clubs – Kitengela and UNON Afya.

The team also visited the family of the late Austin to condole with them before getting back to Nairobi. The club continues to feel his loss; one of its vibrant members though his memory lives on in the many projects he initiated.
