Environmental SUSTAINABILITY by RC Kitengela

Few issues have the global, far-reaching consequences of environmental protection. From addressing climate change that threatens entire food systems to fighting pollution that clogs our air and water, protecting our environment is a daunting task.

With all six of the Rotary’s six corporate priority areas directly relating to the environment, the Rotary Club of Kitengela conducted an environment cleaning exercise in Kitengela town, on Saturday the 9^th November, 2019.

The cleaning exercise, which attracted members of the public, was in partnership with the Kajiado County Government and Community Based Organizations (CBOs) in the area

The cleanup, spearheaded by the Department of Environment, was led by Kajiado County First Lady Edna Lenku, Kajiado Deputy Governor Martin Moshisho’s spouse Beatrice and the President of Rotary Club of Kitengela, Lucy Munga.

The joint noble effort kicked off at the renowned St Monica Catholic Church Kitengela. This event was conducted as part of the RC Kitengela’s increasing social responsibility in the County.

“.. It is our responsibility to keep our environment clean. I’m proud to be associated with our able partners who have come out strongly to ensure our town is clean and healthy to live in..” said Mrs Lenku.

Ms Munga disclosed that RC Kitengela was willing to engage the County Government, CBOs and members of the public to make Kitengela town a better place. In a rare gesture from a non -profit making organization, the RC Kitengela donated 11 dust bins to be used across the town in garbage collection.
