DG Joe Welcomes RI President’s Representative to DisCon 2020
Rotary District Governor Joe Otin is pleased to announce the attendance of Rotary International President’s Personal Representative Jennifer Jones at our groundbreaking District Conference 2020. The DG describes her coming to Kenya as a ‘major milestone’ heralding the success of the endeavor.
The theme of our upcoming DISCON is “Harnessing Talent for Africa’s Future,” and her presence at the Conference is sure to inspire members of both Rotaract and Interact as well as fellow Rotarians to more fully harness their talents in ways comparable to hers on behalf of Africa’s future and Rotary’s as well.
As the DG put it, “Jennifer Jones has a wealth of experience in Rotary having risen to Vice President of RI, and with her impeccable credentials in the communication field, she has helped propel Rotary’s image globally”.
Currently, a Trustee 2019-23 of The Rotary Foundation, she hails from the Rotary Club of Windsor-Roseland, Ontario, Canada, and has served Rotary in many capacities, including as RI Vice President in 2016-17. She is also the current co-chair of the End Polio Now: Make History Today campaign aimed at raising $150 million. She has been a leader in cultivating other fundraising opportunities, such as Rotary’s Polio Golf Day with Jack Nicklaus in Jupiter, Florida, USA, which raised over $5.25 million for polio eradication.
Ms. Jones’ embodiment of Rotary values has also been recognized with her receipt of many awards, including the Service Above Self Award and the Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service. She has additionally received the YMCA Peace Medallion, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, and is the first Canadian to receive Wayne State University’s Peacemaker of the Year Award.
Ms. Jones and her husband, Nick Krayacich, are members of the Paul Harris Society and charter members of the Rotary Foundation’s Bequest Society. They are also members of the Arch Klumph Society, Mr. Klumph having been the sixth RI President who in 1917 proposed an endowment “for the purpose of doing good in the world.” In 1928, the endowment was renamed The Rotary Foundation.
Ms. Jones is the president and CEO of Media Street Productions Inc., an award-winning television production company in Windsor, Canada.
