All Set For Watamu!
Hello Rotary Family,
As we bid adieu to the inaugural month of 2024, it feels like we’ve just embarked on this year’s journey. Time has a way of slipping through our fingers, much like those ambitious gym resolutions many of us might have made at the beginning of the year. Ha!
.The good news is that we are still fully on course to achieve our goals for the 2023/2024 year. I was happy to address you all during our mid-flight state of the district brief where we took track of our progress and laid out how to align to meet our goals. Together, we took stock of our progress and strategically outlined the steps needed to align ourselves for goal achievement. As we step into the month of love, let our focus be directed towards the following key areas:
February is Peace and Conflict Resolution/Prevention Month: In the words of Ronald Reagan, “Peace is not absence of conflict, it is the ability to handle conflict by peaceful means”. Through service projects and support for peace fellowships and scholarships, we address the roots of conflict—poverty, discrimination, ethnic tension, lack of education, and resource inequality. Your consistent contributions to the Rotary Foundation play a crucial role in these efforts. Making a difference has never been easier; use our Jenga Foundation Mpesa portal for Rotary clubs in Kenya or donate via My Rotary.
Rotary Anniversary: Happy Anniversary, Rotary! February holds a special place in our hearts as we celebrate the 119th anniversary of our first meeting on February 23, 1905, in Chicago. Let’s mark this milestone by spreading awareness of our causes and the incredible impact we’ve made over the years.
DCA Celebrations in Magical Watamu: Picture this: Hawaii-inspired shirts, sandy shores, and an unforgettable experience! The preparations for our 99th District Conference in Magical Watamu are in full swing. Have you picked out your aloha attire for the DG’s cocktail on day one? Sunshine Rally of Love: February, the month of love, kicks off with our first Sunshine Rally in the Coast region at the Light International School this Saturday. Join us for a day filled with joy, games, and entertainment. The love continues with rallies in the Nairobi region on February 17th, followed by the Mt. Kenya and Western Regions in March 2024. This annual event, sponsored by clubs in Rotary District 9212, brings together thousands of children living with disabilities for a heartwarming day.
Membership Growth: Let’s be intentional about growing our Rotary family to amplify our impact on communities. As we welcome new members, let’s ensure they share our passion and commitment to our principles. Following due process in onboarding is key to fostering a vibrant and impactful Rotary community.
Wishing you all a February filled with love and peace.
We Are One!

District Governor 2023-24
