Stanbic Bank Kenya joins Rotary District 9212 Covid-19 response PARTNERSHIP
Stanbic Bank Kenya announced a partnership with Rotary District 9212 under which the bank provided 700 sanitation stations to be distributed in different parts of Kenya.
The sanitation stations worth approximately three million Kenya shillings were handed over to the Rotary District 9212 Emergency Response Team in Nairobi in mid-May.
The sanitation donation, through Stanbic’s women product branded DADA, comes at a time when Rotary District 9212 has stepped up its Covid-19 response across the country.
Through various partners, Rotary District 9212 has been able to reach more than two million Kenyans across the country. Over 3,000 vulnerable families have received food hampers. The top priority is to ensure that communities in low-income areas are not left behind.
“As Stanbic Bank, we strive to contribute to progress in society and sustainable development. We work for something greater than the bank, we work for a greater good, delivering value, and generating a positive impact on society,’’ said Mr. Tom Bisonga, the Head of Business Banking at Stanbic Bank Kenya.
Globally, Rotary International has to date raised $13 million for Covid-19 response efforts, continuing its more than 110 years of 1.2 million Rotarians around the world using their passion, energy, and intelligence to take on sustainable projects. They do this through shared responsibility in more than 35,000 clubs work across the world.
“We are grateful to Stanbic Bank Kenya for their timely support. Indeed, unprecedented times like this require such partnerships and the mobilization of resources to protect the most vulnerable in our communities while enhancing public health systems,’’ said Rotary District 9212 Governor Rtn. Joe Otin.
To date, Stanbic Bank Foundation and its partner’s contribution to enhancing Kenya’s Covid-19 response has surpassed 137 million Kenya shillings. The interventions include a partnership with Base Titanium, Centum Investment Plc, Africapractice, and Valaar, which saw 192 ventilators committed to Kenya’s Ministry of Health.
“We are pleased with the support received today. Our country is at a critical juncture in the fight against Covid-19 and we must all come together to strengthen the response effort to save lives” said Dr. Joe Kamau, Chairman of the Rotary District 9212 Emergency Response Team.
